5 Matchups 5 Days Zero Excuses
Good Vibes Only is already in triage. Corbin Burnes, Hunter Greene, and Spencer Schwellenbach are all on the 60-day IL. Ryan Pepiot on the 15-day. Bieber and Musgrove DTD. That's potentially six pitching roster spots producing nothing in Week 1. They have one of the best offensive cores in the league — Harper, Betts, Alonso, Rodríguez — and they might still lose ERA by forty points.
Rain City's ace rotation got kneecapped before the first pitch. Wheeler, Lodolo, and Kelly are all DTD. Their healthy Skenes–deGrom combo would've been the nastiest 1–2 in the league. Instead they're filling roster spots with Merrill Kelly's absence and hoping Shota Imanaga can hold the rotation together. The Ragans Administration didn't ask for a gift opener against a wounded squad, but they'll take it.
Skenes'n on deez Hoerners finished 10th last year and apparently took it personally. Bobby Witt Jr., Yordan Alvarez, Freddie Freeman, Rafael Devers, and Andrés Muñoz on the same fantasy team is not subtle. This is a team that drafted like someone who found the league settings after finishing last. Keanu Reeves has Soto and solid pitching but is going to find out the hard way that draft slot 10 doesn't mean what it used to.
Week 1 is only five days. That's fewer SV opportunities, fewer SP starts, and fewer chances for your shaky ERA to stabilize. Teams with deep closer stashes — One Ball's Bednar and Jansen, Decoy's Miller and Helsley — get a relative edge because the SV pool is just smaller. Start your best arms, don't stream junk, and don't read too much into a 5-day sample. Except for Good Vibes. Read everything into their pitching situation because it's bad.
One Ball Two Strikes
The Buckner Boots
One Ball Two Strikes came in with the most complete roster in the draft — Skubal and Yamamoto is arguably the best SP tandem in the league, Ramírez is a five-category wrecking ball, and Bednar plus Jansen is two elite closers when most teams are scraping for one. Rodón being DTD hurts the rotation depth but Alcantara and Chase Burns give them enough arms to stay competitive in every pitching category.
The Buckner Boots have genuine firepower — Tucker, Henderson, Seager, and a DTD Ketel Marte is a terrifying power and OBP lineup. Devin Williams is a legitimate closer anchor and Logan Webb plus Framber Valdez give the rotation a solid floor. But Webb and Valdez can't match Skubal/Yamamoto's strikeout ceiling, and the saves category becomes a problem fast when Williams is your only proven option.

The Ragans Administration
Rain City Bombers
The defending champs didn't rebuild — they restocked. Judge, Trout, and Trea Turner is an obscene offensive core, and the rotation runs four deep with McClanahan, Castillo, King, and Cole Ragans. Jhoan Duran and Robert Suarez at closer is a legitimate two-headed save weapon. This team is built to win every category, which is exactly what a first-place squad should look like.
Rain City has the Skenes–deGrom ace combo that wins any rotation battle on paper, but Wheeler, Lodolo, and Kelly are all DTD — which means that paper is currently on fire. What's left is Imanaga, Sasaki, and Flaherty trying to cover starts, and Cade Smith and Garrett Cleavinger as the bullpen closers. Tatis and Machado carry the offense but Lindor being DTD takes a chunk out of the SB and R ceiling.

Decoy
Ete Crow
Decoy is banking on Acuña Jr.'s comeback and a closer tandem of Mason Miller and Ryan Helsley that would be the envy of any team in this league. James Wood and Acuña give them speed and power, but Jeremy Peña is DTD, Gerrit Cole is DTD, and Blake Snell is DTD — which leaves Glasnow and Bryan Woo doing most of the rotation heavy lifting. The floor here is high if the closers stay healthy. The ceiling depends entirely on whether Acuña is actually Acuña again.
Ete Crow's lineup is legitimately filthy — Guerrero Jr., Elly De La Cruz, Ozzie Albies, Jackson Chourio, and Kazuma Okamoto is a top-five offensive roster. De La Cruz alone wins SB most weeks. The problem is Josh Hader is DTD, which means Iglesias and Estévez are carrying the save burden against Miller and Helsley. Joe Ryan, Sonny Gray, and Aaron Nola give them rotation depth but nothing with elite strikeout stuff.

Good Vibes Only
Busch Latte
Good Vibes Only has an offensive murderer's row — Harper, Betts, Alonso, Hernández, Rodríguez, and Rooker is a lineup that wins HR, RBI, R, and OBP in most weeks without breaking a sweat. The issue is everything else. Burnes, Greene, and Schwellenbach are all IL60. Pepiot is IL15. Musgrove and Bieber are DTD. Crochet and Dylan Cease are doing yeoman's work but the ERA and WHIP from the replacement arms are going to be carnage.
Busch Latte has Shohei Ohtani as a batter — the entire category conversation starts and ends there. Carroll and Chisholm add a speed dimension that Good Vibes simply can't match, and Hunter Brown plus George Kirby give them a healthy, functional rotation while their opponent is running out of MASH unit arms. Edwin Díaz and Paul Sewald close out the bullpen. Strider being DTD stings but they have actual healthy pitchers, which is more than Vibes can say right now.

Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves has Juan Soto and Kyle Schwarber at the top of a lineup that's built for walks and power, with Byron Buxton and Jackson Merrill adding athleticism. Max Fried, Freddy Peralta, and Cristopher Sánchez give the rotation real quality, and Aroldis Chapman plus Pete Fairbanks handle saves. The ceiling here is a balanced 6-4 or 7-3 week — nothing dominant, nothing embarrassing.
Skenes'n on deez Hoerners came out of last place like they have a point to prove. Witt, Alvarez, Freeman, and Devers in the same lineup should not be possible from the 10th draft slot, but here we are. Muñoz, Abreu, and Pagán give them three legitimate save options. Gausman, Gilbert, and Bibee are a rotation that can win K and ERA. This team is a serious threat to go 8-2 in a good week.

Messick was in the Opening Day rotation last year and got picked in round 22 of this draft like nobody was watching. Five days in, if he starts and looks crisp, he's going to be the most-added pitcher on waivers by the end of the week. If you're not his manager, this is your warning.
OBP play for teams that drafted thin at second base. Won't hurt you anywhere.
One of the better SB sources sitting unowned. STL leadoff track gives him run opportunities on top of the steal upside. If SB is close this week, he's worth a start.
Opening Day starter with strikeout stuff. If he pitches this week and delivers, he's gone fast.
