📚 Storylines to Watch

Sonny vs Keanu is the top-2 showdown the calendar was always going to deliver. Cumulative #1 (Sonny, 397 cat wins) meets #2 (Keanu, 400 cat wins). The sim has it 46% Sonny, 4.8–5.2 expected. Keanu just put up 16 HR and 7–0–2 all-play. Sonny just put up 75 K and a 0.93 WHIP. Cole Ragans and Brandon Woodruff still IL for Sonny, Max Fried still IL for Keanu. Closest predicted matchup of the week and the one most likely to flip the cumulative #1 spot.

Hey Holmes! has to prove the upset was real. Michael just rolled 8–1 all-play and 58 cat wins for the best week any team has had this season. Now he gets Ete Crow (3–5–1 last week) as the 38% underdog. Crochet is still IL. Clay Holmes is still IL. The lineup that ran a .345 OBP last week is intact and Arenado is on board for a full week. If Hey wins this, the 10th-place team becomes a real story. If they lose 4–6, it was variance.

OBT catches their first true reset matchup of the year. Three straight weeks beating sim favorites, then a 2–7 H2H L to Hey Holmes! Now Garth gets Nick-fil-A (off a 0–8–1 disaster) as the 60% favorite. Mario’s rotation is Latz, E-Rod, Wrobleski, Davis Martin, Burrows after Bassitt was dropped. Five IL pitchers (Cole, Glasnow, Snell, Helsley, Acuña). Sim sees this as the cleanest win on the board. If it isn’t, the OBT-versus-the-model storyline gets weirder.

Buckner finally favored. Big favorite. Sim has it 72% Buckner over Rain City, expected 5.9–4.1. Webb (IL), Bradley (IL), Strider (IL), Valdez still suspended, and Buckner is still a 72% favorite. The lineup is Murakami, CJ Abrams, Gunnar Henderson, Kyle Tucker, Yandy Díaz, Alex Bregman, Adley Rutschman, Brandon Nimmo. That’s deeper than the prior two weeks suggested. Rain City has Trout (0–0–0–0 last week), Lindor/Anthony/Caballero on IL, and is now leaning on the Skenes / deGrom rotation. Buckner needs this to climb out of the cellar.

Busch vs Allahu is the coin flip nobody is talking about. Sim 47% Busch, expected 4.9–5.1. Both teams sit 8th and 9th in the cumulative cats race and both just lost their H2H games. Busch led the league in SB (12) and OBP (.399) last week. Allahu hit .372 OBP and 39 R. The SV cat goes Allahu 84% because Edwin Díaz is still on the 60-day IL and Busch is running Paul Sewald at closer. The score is going to be a half-category off the prediction either way.

OBT comes off a 2–7 L to Hey Holmes! that broke the three-week sim-upset streak. Garth dropped Foster Griffin and Janson Junk and added Jack Flaherty over the weekend, which thickens the active rotation behind Yamamoto, Alcantara, Eovaldi. Sale Skubal still IL and Peña now on the 10-day, which trims the lineup ceiling. The bullpen behind Jansen, Bednar, and Megill is solid. The K and SV edges in this matchup are both over 80%.

Nick-fil-A is coming off a 0–8–1 all-play disaster, the worst week any team has posted this season. Mario dropped Chris Bassitt on Sunday night and the rotation now leans on Latz, E. Rodriguez, Wrobleski, Davis Martin, and Mike Burrows. Cole, Glasnow, Snell, Helsley, Acuña all on IL. The lineup with James Wood, Junior Caminero, Konnor Griffin, Brice Turang, and Daylen Lile is still real, and Mason Miller anchors a pretty solid closer corps. Sim sees them as the underdog on the strikeout gap alone.

Sonny is the cumulative #1 in cat wins (397) with two straight elite weeks. The rotation, even with Ragans and Woodruff IL, just produced 75 K and a 0.93 WHIP. Aaron Judge (3 R, 0 HR last week) is the one bat that hasn’t fully clicked. Tatis Jr. and Ashcraft from the trade have integrated cleanly. Cal Raleigh and Wyatt Langford both on 10-day IL trims the lineup depth. The OBP edge and the rate-stat edges all sit in the 54–60% range.

Keanu is cumulative #2 in cat wins (400) and just dropped 16 HR / 34 RBI in a 7–3 H2H win. Schwarber is doing Schwarber things, Drake Baldwin and Colson Montgomery are both producing, Juan Soto added 2 HR / 2 SB. The closer trio (Chapman, Fairbanks, Soto) is the deepest in this matchup and the SV edge is at 72%. O’Hearn IL, Robert Jr. IL, Buxton DTD. Severino, Peralta, Taillon, Williams all healthy in the rotation. Max Fried still IL.

Crochet still IL, Clay Holmes still IL, but Soroka is active and the bench is Gore, Cease, May, Bradish, Cantillo, plus Will Warren. Ete Crow lost 4–5 to Allahu in a week the rotation actually pitched (3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 6 QS). Jace has Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, Luzardo, Tolle, and Eury Pérez active. Tanner Scott and Raisel Iglesias share the closer load and the SV edge is at 83%. Elly De La Cruz, Vlad, Bellinger, Brandon Lowe, Salvador Perez carry the lineup. Hader still on 60-day IL. Taylor still hasn’t lost an H2H game in three weeks.

Buckner went 3–4–2 last week and is now favored 72% over Rain City. Webb, Bradley, Strider all IL. Valdez still suspended. Busch comes off a 3–7 L to Keanu in which Rose led the league in SB (12) and OBP (.399) but the rotation gave up 6.00 ERA. Hunter Brown and Edwin Díaz both on 60-day IL gutted the staff. George Kirby and Tatsuya Imai anchor the rotation now with Senzatela, Weathers, plus Strider, Bubic, Soriano, Harrison, Misiorowski waiting on the bench. Aranda from the trade gets his first full Busch week. Sewald is the closer and the SV cat looks bad.

Allahu just took down Ete 5–4 with 39 R and a .372 OBP. Bobby Witt Jr., Yordan, Christian Walker, Max Muncy, Dillon Dingler all hit. Gausman is the lone active starter; Logan Gilbert, Bibee, Ranger Suarez, Bryce Miller, Spencer Arrighetti all sit bench. Pivetta IL, Steele 60-day IL, Kirk IL. Muñoz at closer with Var land and Domingo backing him up gives them a real SV edge.

Prediction: Allahu Alvarez 5–4. Sim says 53% Allahu and expected 4.9–5.1. Busch has the offense edges almost everywhere but Allahu’s SV cat is essentially free and the pitching rate stats squeak the win. Closest call on the board.

3–2 on the week. 1 exact, 2 right-team. 2 ties the sim never priced in (Ete–Romance and Rain City–Buckner). The Buckner pick was the worst call at 72% sim confidence and ended in a 5–5 tie with Rain City. Ete was 62% to beat Romance and tied at 4–4–2. Allahu over Busch at 53% sim confidence was the only matchup where the model nailed the score exactly.

🏆 Biggest Win
Allahu Alvarez 5–4 over Busch Latte, with 8–0–1 all-play and 53 cat wins. TylerR was in 10th place going in and a 36% underdog on the sim line. The pitching staff posted a 1.16 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 3 SV, all league bests of the week. The lineup hit 14 HR, also a league high. Casey Schmitt picked up off waivers on May 23 plugged into the 3B/SS depth. Yordan Alvarez and Max Muncy played through DTD designations and Allahu still ran the best all-play line of the year. From the basement to the top of the weekly board in one weekend.
💥 Choke of the Week
Ete Crow: 0–8–1 all-play, 28 cat wins, 4–4–2 tie with Romance Explosion. Jace was sitting in 7th place and the sim had him at 62% to beat the league’s worst weekly all-play roster from Week 8. Instead the offense disappeared: 7 HR, 22 RBI, 2 SB, and 4 QS. The rotation cleared a 3.83 ERA and 1.00 WHIP that should have been enough, but the bullpen recorded 0 saves (Lucas Erceg, on the Romance roster, owned the save the closer in Ete’s slot couldn’t get). Worst all-play week in the league. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went DTD heading into the matchup and the offense never recovered.
🏆 Category Leaders
R
Nick-fil-A (40)
Nick-fil-A 40 R led the league. Mario’s lineup spent the week running: 10 SB (also league high) on top of the R total. The OBP was just .332 though and the rotation gave up 5.23 ERA / 1.42 WHIP. Win the R cat, lose the matchup.
HR
Allahu Alvarez (14)
14 HR led the league. TylerR’s lineup got home run contributions from across the order: 8 different bats homered. The 14 total was three clear of any other team and the cleanest HR win of the year.
RBI
One Ball Two Strikes (43)
43 RBI led the league behind JosΓ© RamΓrez, Jordan Walker, and Matt Olson driving in runs at the top of the order. Bo Bichette’s return to the active roster added another middle-of-the-order RBI threat.
SB
Nick-fil-A (10)
10 SB led the league by a wide margin. Mario’s speed group ran clean: only Caballero on Rain City had more individual SB output than the entire Nick lineup combined.
OBP
Busch Latte (.402)
.402 team OBP. Rose has now led OBP in two of the last three weeks. The lineup walks and gets on. The rotation has not been the problem either, with a 2.94 ERA. The HR and RBI cats killed the matchup against Allahu.
K
Romance Explosion (78)
78 K led the league by 1 over Sonny, OBT, and Keanu (all tied at 77). Mid-rotation depth from Detmers, Dustin May, and Kyle Bradish all chipping in. The Romance rotation that was a worry last week stepped up. The bats did not.
ERA
Allahu Alvarez (1.16)
1.16 staff ERA is the lowest single-week ERA any team has posted this season. Kevin Gausman led the rotation. Logan Gilbert, Spencer Strider working back, Hunter Brown still IL. Whatever was thrown got swung over.
WHIP
Allahu Alvarez (0.88)
0.88 staff WHIP. Sub-1.00 WHIP weeks are rare. Sub-0.90 weeks are once-a-season events. Louis Varland 2 SV / 14 K added to the dominance. The rate stats were untouchable.
QS
It’s Always Sonny (8)
8 quality starts led the league. TylerV got steady work from the rotation behind Cam Schlittler, Michael King, Sonny Gray, and Mitch Keller. With Cal Raleigh and Wyatt Langford both on the IL, the pitching kept the matchup tight. 4–5 anyway because Keanu hit 8 HR to Sonny’s 6.
SV
Rain City Bombers (5)
5 SV led the league. Taylor’s closer group fired: Cade Smith 3 SV, plus 2 more from Lucas Erceg, Devin Williams, and Pete Fairbanks chipping in. The 5-5 tie with Buckner had nothing to do with the closer slot.
🔥 Over/Under-Performers

Over: Allahu Alvarez’s entire pitching staff (1.16 ERA, .88 WHIP, 3 SV) wildly outran any Steamer projection on the slate. Spencer Steer (added to It’s Always Sonny on May 19) and Samuel Basallo (May 18) both delivered Week 1 contributions on a Sonny roster that lost Cal Raleigh to the IL. Keanu Reeves’ Gavin Sheets pickup (May 18) gave Duke Joe a usable OF bat with Drake Baldwin on the IL. Cade Smith locked down 3 SV for Rain City to lead the league. Foster Griffin came back to OBT and contributed in the K cat.

Under: Kyle Schwarber went 0–0–0–0 on the Keanu Reeves bench after carrying them in Week 8 with 4 HR / 9 RBI. Mookie Betts also went 0–0–0–0 for Romance Explosion. Ian Happ a 0-fer for Allahu (one of the few stat lines they could afford). Luke Raley dropped from Busch Latte on May 22 after a 0-stat week. Ete Crow’s offense as a whole disappeared: 7 HR and 22 RBI on what was supposed to be a favored matchup.

🎯 Move of the Week

Allahu Alvarez churning the bottom of the roster (Casey Schmitt on May 23, Carson Benge May 22, Henry Bolte out). TylerR was in 10th place. The lineup needed a fresh body and the rotation was already in good shape. Casey Schmitt added on Saturday only got a day-and-a-half of action but kept the IF depth in usable condition while Max Muncy played through a DTD. Carson Benge plugged in for an OF spot. The team went 8–0–1 all-play, won the H2H 5–4 over Busch Latte, and posted the lowest weekly ERA in the league. Honorable mention: Keanu Reeves picking up Gavin Sheets on May 18 to backfill OF while Drake Baldwin sat on IL. The pickup that nobody noticed at the time turned into a Week 9 H2H win over the first-place team.

Elite Tier
1
Allahu Alvarez 53–33–4 cats 8–0–1 all-play W 5–4
8–0–1 all-play, 53 cat wins, 5–4 H2H over Busch. League-best ERA (1.16), WHIP (.88), and HR (14). The cumulative cat total (392) finally moved out of the cellar. Best weekly all-play line by any team in 2026. From 10th place to weekly champ.
2
Busch Latte 55–29–6 cats 7–1–1 all-play L 4–5
7–1–1 all-play, 55 cat wins, 5–4 H2H L to Allahu. Rose ran league-best .402 OBP and a 2.94 ERA. Won 5 cats outright. Lost 4 to Allahu’s historic pitching week. Honest #2 of the week and the rare matchup where both teams had elite all-play lines.
Contenders
3
Keanu Reeves 45–36–9 cats 6–1–2 all-play W 5–4
6–1–2 all-play, 45 cat wins, 5–4 H2H W over Sonny. League-best 1.95 ERA among teams that pitched a full slate. Duke Joe handed the league leader his first H2H loss in three weeks. Drake Baldwin on IL, Juan Soto DTD, Gavin Sheets a value add.
4
It’s Always Sonny 45–38–7 cats 5–3–1 all-play L 4–5
5–3–1 all-play, 45 cat wins, 4–5 H2H L to Keanu. The QS cat (8) and the K cat (77) carried the rotation. Cal Raleigh and Wyatt Langford both IL bit into the offense. First H2H loss in three weeks but still league leaders in cumulative cat wins by a hair.
5
One Ball Two Strikes 43–40–7 cats 5–4–0 all-play W 5–4
5–4 all-play, 43 cat wins, 5–4 H2H W over Nick-fil-A. Garth got league-best 43 RBI behind JosΓ© RamΓrez and Jordan Walker. Zac Gallen got dropped Sunday for Foster Griffin. Skubal still IL. Wild week to be in 3rd place with 4 wins on the season.
Middle of the Pack
6
Rain City Bombers 41–45–4 cats 3–4–2 all-play T 5–5
3–4–2 all-play, 41 cat wins, 5–5 tie with Buckner. Cade Smith 3 SV led the league. The 13 HR was a season high for the team. Lindor and Roman Anthony still IL. Tie was a moral win for a roster everyone expected to lose.
7
The Buckner Boots 42–45–3 cats 2–4–3 all-play T 5–5
2–4–3 all-play, 42 cat wins, 5–5 tie with Rain City. The sim said 72% Buckner; reality said 5–5. Lineup was solid (38 R, 10 HR, 40 RBI) but the rotation (4.61 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 2 QS) couldn’t close. Webb and Seager still IL.
8
Nick-fil-A 37–46–7 cats 1–6–2 all-play L 4–5
1–6–2 all-play, 37 cat wins, 4–5 H2H L to OBT. Hunter Greene 60-day IL, Tyler Glasnow IL, Andrew Painter added off waivers. Mario won 4 cats (R, SB, OBP, SV) but a 5.23 ERA and 1.42 WHIP killed the matchup. Second straight week in the cellar of all-play.
Cellar Dwellers
9
Romance Explosion 32–54–4 cats 0–6–3 all-play T 4–4
0–6–3 all-play, 32 cat wins, 4–4–2 tie with Ete. Michael 1 dropped the Hey Holmes! name and went from Week 8 weekly champ to dead last in all-play in one weekend. The lineup vanished (26 R, .285 OBP). Jose Altuve and Dylan Cease both DTD/IL.
10
Ete Crow 28–55–7 cats 0–8–1 all-play T 4–4
0–8–1 all-play, 28 cat wins, 4–4–2 tie with Romance. Worst weekly all-play line in the league this week. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. DTD, Mickey Moniak IL. The offense disappeared and the bullpen recorded 0 SV. From contender (Week 8 rank 5) to last (Week 9).
