📚 Storylines to Watch

Sonny vs Nick-fil-A is the matchup of the season so far. The new #1 in the standings against the team that has been parked in the contender tier all year. Sim gives Sonny an 88% nuke. The lineup that just went 6–3 on Hey Holmes! gets to feast on a Nick-fil-A roster that's missing Cole, Glasnow, and Helsley simultaneously. Mario’s pitching depth was the calling card; now half of it is on the shelf. If Nick-fil-A loses this 6–4 or worse, the gap between #1 and the chasing pack opens for real.

The sim doesn’t believe in One Ball Two Strikes yet. Garth just delivered a 9–1 sweep of Busch with the highest single-week QS total of the year. Sim response: still a 19% dog against Allahu. Skubal IL stings, but OBT’s rotation also runs Yamamoto, Alcantara, Rodón, plus Burns, Yesavage, and Foster Griffin behind them. The model wants more evidence. Garth’s job is to provide it. Two straight beatings of a sim favorite would make him impossible to argue with.

Ete Crow gets the regression test. Jace just put up the most complete week of the season: 61 cat wins, 9–0 all-play, top of the league in five categories. Sim immediately downgrades him to a 34% underdog against Busch Latte, who went 0–9 all-play with the worst HR/SB output in the league. The model thinks Busch’s roster is still the better one. Jace’s job is to make the model look stupid. Hot lineups don’t politely cool just because regression said so.

Buckner’s rotation runs into the buzzsaw. The Buckner Boots have Logan Webb on IL, Framber Valdez suspended, Taj Bradley on IL, and a Week 6 line that already showed 6 HR / 25 RBI from the lineup. They tied Nick-fil-A on the strength of a 2.11 ERA. Now they get Keanu Reeves, who has Sánchez, Abbott, Williams, plus Max Fried and Freddy Peralta lying in wait on bench. Sim gives Keanu the K cat at 100% and QS at 78%. If Michael loses K 8–2, the ratios won’t save him this time.

Hey Holmes! gets the schedule the standings deserved. Sitting last in the league at 23–43–4 and drawing Rain City, who is one tick above and finally has a lineup that doesn’t quit when the rotation goes off. Rain City has injuries piling up (Lindor, Yelich, Roman Anthony, Correa), but the Skenes/deGrom/Imanaga rotation gives them a floor Hey Holmes! doesn’t have. Sim says 23%. Closer to a 50% if Bryce Harper finds the swing.

OBT comes in off a 9–1 beatdown of Busch with a league-tying 12 HR and 7 QS. Skubal is on the IL alongside Eovaldi (DTD) and Peña, but the rotation still runs Yamamoto, Alcantara, and Rodón, with Burns, Yesavage, and Griffin available on bench. The 1.20 WHIP and 61 K from last week were not flukes. Garth has built the league’s deepest rotation and the sim doesn’t trust it.

Allahu went 5–5 against Rain City with league-best WHIP (0.96) and 4 SV. The lineup put up 36 R and a .367 OBP behind Witt, Walker, Muncy, and Freeman. With Pivetta, Steele, and Pagán all on IL, the rotation now leans hard on Gilbert, Henderson, and a Bibee/Suarez/Gausman rotation off the bench. Closer depth (Muñoz / Domínguez) is the calling card. Sim says they steamroll OBT 6–4. This will not be that.

Sonny is the league’s best team right now. 38–17–5 cumulative, top of the cumulative power rankings, three straight winning weeks. The lineup runs Judge, Trea Turner, Austin Riley, McGonigle, plus the Moniak pickup that delivered last week. Ohtani, Schlittler, King, Roupp, and Ashcraft headline the rotation with Castillo, Mitch Keller, Sheehan, and Sonny Gray on bench. Ragans and Woodruff are IL stashes. The roster has no holes.

Nick-fil-A is in trouble. Cole, Glasnow, and Helsley all hit the IL in the same window, gutting both the rotation and the closer depth at the same time. The 6 HR week was an anomaly for a power roster built on Caminero, Wood, and Caglianone. Bubba Chandler, Davis Martin, Wrobleski, and an Eduardo Rodriguez pickup hold the rotation together. Snell and Robbie Ray on bench. The 4 SV last week saved a tie that should have been a loss.

Hey Holmes! lost 6–3 to Sonny on a 3.86 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. The pitching was fine; the bats weren’t. Bryce Harper, Pete Alonso, Dansby Swanson, and Jose Altuve fill the lineup with Brent Rooker and Chandler Simpson at the corners. Crochet on IL hurts, but Taillon, Cameron, MacKenzie Gore, Clay Holmes, plus Dustin May and a Dylan Cease bench is real rotation depth. Lowest team in the standings; not the lowest-talent.

Rain City just tied Allahu on a league-best 2.07 ERA and a 7 QS week. Skenes, deGrom, Imanaga, and Nick Martinez are the rotation; Max Meyer, Lugo, Wheeler, and Lodolo are the bench. The catch: Lindor, Yelich, Roman Anthony, and Correa are all on the IL right now. The lineup that put up 22 R last week is missing four real bats. Sim still gives them a 77% win shot on rotation alone.

Keanu is coming off a 2–8 loss to Ete Crow that bumped him out of the cumulative #1 spot. The rotation runs Wacha, Sánchez, Abbott, Gavin Williams, and Luis Severino with Edward Cabrera, Max Fried, Freddy Peralta, and Drew Rasmussen on bench. That is eight startable arms even with Luis Robert Jr. on IL. The 7 SB was the only category they won last week. The pitching depth is real; the SP variance has been the problem.

Buckner tied Nick-fil-A 4–4 on the strength of a 2.11 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 72 K. Tucker, Bregman, CJ Abrams, and Jasson Domínguez lead the lineup. The rotation is in rough shape: Logan Webb on IL, Framber Valdez suspended, Taj Bradley on IL. Chris Sale, Parker Messick, Hancock, Schultz, and Trevor Rogers are what’s left. Sim gives Keanu the K cat 100%. That tells you how thin the Buckner staff has gotten.

Ete Crow just delivered the most complete week of the season: 9–0 all-play, 61 cat wins, league lead in R/HR/RBI/OBP/K. The Dollander pickup is paying off and Luzardo is anchoring the staff. Joe Ryan, Tyler Mahle, Dollander, Luzardo, and Payton Tolle headline the rotation; Nolan McLean, Bailey Ober, and Eury Pérez sit on bench. Boyd is IL, Hader is 60-day IL, the closer slot is thin (Tanner Scott’s ramp-up is the only saving grace).

Busch went 0–9 all-play last week with the worst HR and SB outputs in the league. Sim still likes them: Suzuki, Bogaerts, Sal Stewart, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Luke Keaschall, and Michael Busch are a healthy lineup, and the rotation has Kirby, Soriano, Bubic, Kyle Harrison, Strider, and Misiorowski (with Imai, Brown, and Bryce Miller all on IL). That’s a 6-deep starting staff Rose has not used all year. Closer depth (Sewald, De Los Santos) is the soft spot.

Ete vs Busch Busch 6–4 Busch 6–4 ✓ Exact

4–1 on the week with two exact calls. Rain City 7–3 and Busch 6–4 hit the score on the nose. Sonny and Keanu both won, just by more than the sim expected. The only miss was the big one: OBT was the 19% underdog and instead beat Allahu 8–2. That’s now two straight weeks Garth has flipped a sim favorite. The model owes him an apology.

🏆 Biggest Win
One Ball Two Strikes 8–2 over Allahu Alvarez, with 6–2–1 all-play and 53 cat wins out of 90. Garth was given a 19% sim chance and posted league-best R (41), league-best OBP (.381), 8 SB, 5 QS, and a sub-1.13 WHIP. Allahu’s lineup edges shrank to nothing when the rotation got 9 HR from someone other than Garth and only 52 K from a staff that was supposed to live on strikeouts. Two straight weeks of OBT beating a heavy favorite. The deepest rotation in the league is now also the most productive.
💥 Choke of the Week
The Buckner Boots: 0–9 all-play, 18 cat wins out of 90, 5.82 ERA, 43 K. Three weeks ago Buckner was top-2 cumulative. Now Michael has put up two 0–9 all-play weeks in three weeks. Logan Webb on IL plus Framber Valdez suspended left the rotation at three startable arms, and Chris Sale didn’t bail them out. 5 HR from a 12-HR power lineup is variance. 43 K from a staff that was 72 K the prior week is a roster problem. The 5 SV (league lead) was the only category that worked. From contender to cellar in three weeks.
🏆 Category Leaders
R
One Ball Two Strikes (41)
Garth led the league in R for the second time in three weeks. 41 in a week with no Peña and no Eovaldi at full strength. The lineup that the sim has been undervaluing for a month is now scoring at the top of the league at a steady clip.
HR
Keanu Reeves (14)
14 homers and a league-best 35 RBI. Schwarber went deep multiple times, Drake Baldwin added one, and the lineup that was second in HR the prior week ran up the count this time. Keanu’s back to swinging like a contender.
RBI
Ete Crow (39)
Jace took RBI, K, WHIP, and SV in a 4–6 loss. The 9–0 all-play sweep the prior week did not repeat at the team level, but 39 RBI was the league high. The Vlad / Albies / Burleson middle was the engine.
SB
Busch Latte (10)
Rose tied OBT’s strong week of running with 10 SB on the back of Sal Stewart, Corbin Carroll, and the rest of the speed lineup. Last week he had 2 SB. Variance went the other direction this time.
OBP
One Ball Two Strikes (.381)
A .381 team OBP from Matt Olson, José Ramírez, Riley Greene, and Jordan Walker. Garth led HR/RBI/R/OBP last week and then led R/OBP again this week. The on-base machine is consistent.
K
Keanu Reeves (97)
97 strikeouts. The highest single-week K total of the season by any team. Sánchez, Abbott, Williams, and Severino all contributed at the back end of starts. The K cat that the sim gave Keanu at 100% probability held form.
ERA
It’s Always Sonny (2.29)
Sonny’s rotation ran a 2.29 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. With Ragans and Woodruff IL, the workload was Ohtani, Schlittler, King, and Roupp all delivering. The 2.29 ERA came against the league’s deepest pitching matchup (Nick-fil-A).
WHIP
It’s Always Sonny (1.03)
Sub-1.05 staff WHIP behind the same rotation. Hits and walks both held down. Sonny took ERA, WHIP, R, RBI, and SB to win 5–4 in a matchup the sim wanted to be 7–3.
QS
Keanu Reeves (7)
Seven quality starts. Keanu’s active rotation finally lined up with bench timing and all five active SPs delivered. Nick-fil-A was second at 6 QS. The two best rotations in the league played in different matchups and both ran the QS counter up.
SV
The Buckner Boots (5)
5 saves was the league high and the only category Buckner won. Bryan Baker chipped in on a Sunday closer-rotation night. When SV is the one thing keeping you off a 0–10 line, the rest of the roster has problems.
🎯 Move of the Week

The only trade of the 2026 season so far: Rain City Bombers sent Fernando Tatis Jr. and Braxton Ashcraft to It’s Always Sonny in exchange for Mike Trout and Abner Uribe on May 5. Taylor traded young upside (Tatis Jr.’s healthy 2026 line, Ashcraft’s rookie SP arm) for a Trout-and-closer package, and immediately went 7–3 over Hey Holmes! TylerV gave up the closer slot and a hot young SP and still won the matchup with Nick-fil-A 5–4. Both sides upgraded their immediate needs. Honorable mention: Jace Allison adding Tyler Mahle on May 10 for the rest-of-rotation depth that the Boyd IL hole was creating.

Elite Tier
1
It’s Always Sonny 48–31–11 cats 7–0–2 all-play W 5–4
48 cat wins, 7–0–2 all-play, undefeated for the week against any opponent. League-best ERA (2.29) and WHIP (1.03). Tatis Jr. and Ashcraft from Rain City made the win, the rotation made the matchup, and the only category Sonny did not win was K, against Nick-fil-A’s 93 K outlier. Best week any team had this week.
2
One Ball Two Strikes 53–27–10 cats 6–2–1 all-play W 8–2
53 cat wins, 6–2–1 all-play, 8–2 H2H against the team the sim wanted to win 6–4. Garth led the league in R and OBP, posted 5 QS and 68 K. Third straight week beating a sim favorite. The 19% upset is the kind of thing that breaks a model.
Contenders
3
Keanu Reeves 51–33–6 cats 5–0–4 all-play W 8–2
51 cat wins, 5–0–4 all-play (undefeated, with four ties). League-best K (97) and QS (7), plus league-best HR (14). Duke Joe rebounded from a 2–8 disaster the prior week by running an 8–2 of his own. Sánchez, Abbott, and Williams pitched the rotation into the K lead by a comfortable margin.
4
Nick-fil-A 45–35–10 cats 6–3 all-play L 4–5
45 cat wins, 6–3 all-play. Mario lost the matchup 5–4 to Sonny on the ERA/WHIP line. 93 K led the league behind Cole’s replacement and a Davis Martin breakout. The injury list (Cole, Glasnow, Helsley) thinned the pitching depth at the top and yet still produced 6 QS. The 4 SV and OBP edge kept it close.
5
Rain City Bombers 47–32–11 cats 5–1–3 all-play W 7–3
47 cat wins, 5–1–3 all-play, 7–3 H2H. The trade for Trout and Uribe paid off immediately: 3 SV plus a deeper offense that pieced together 29 R despite Lindor / Yelich / Roman Anthony / Correa all on IL. deGrom 10 K, Bryce Elder 8 K. The rotation is humming.
6
Busch Latte 45–44–1 cats 3–5–1 all-play W 6–4
45 cat wins, 3–5–1 all-play, 6–4 H2H. Bounce-back from a 0–9 disaster. Rose led the league in SB (10), took OBP at .348, and the rotation finally showed up: 54 K, 4 QS, 4.34 ERA. The categories Ete Crow was supposed to dominate (R, HR, OBP) all went to Busch. Bubic, Soriano, and Kirby all stayed in line.
Middle of the Pack
7
Allahu Alvarez 38–43–9 cats 3–4–2 all-play L 2–8
38 cat wins, 3–4–2 all-play. The 2–8 H2H loss to OBT was the worst sim-favorite collapse since Busch went 1–9 in Week 6. TylerR led the league in HR (10) and took 3 SV. Everything else collapsed. The OBP line (.298) was the lowest among the top 7 cumulative teams. The rotation around Gilbert is now relying on Henderson and a thin Bibee/Suarez bench.
8
Ete Crow 36–45–9 cats 2–6–1 all-play L 4–6
36 cat wins, 2–6–1 all-play. Regression hit fast after a historic 9–0 sweep. League-best RBI (39) was a nice bullet point but everything else fell: 27 R, 7 HR, 4.68 ERA. Boyd’s IL stint emptied the back of the rotation and Hader 60-day stays on the shelf. From 61 cat wins last week to 36 this week.
Cellar Dwellers
9
Hey Holmes! 32–53–5 cats 1–8 all-play L 3–7
32 cat wins, 1–8 all-play. Third straight week in the bottom three by all-play. Michael took HR (10), RBI (31), and SB (2). Everything else went to Rain City. The pitching that had been holding the team afloat (3.86 ERA in Week 6) regressed to 4.48 and 1.36 WHIP. The lineup’s lone-bright-spot weeks are not stacking into wins.
10
The Buckner Boots 18–70–2 cats 0–9 all-play L 2–8
18 cat wins, 0–9 all-play. Second 0–9 in three weeks. The rotation has Logan Webb (IL), Framber Valdez (suspended), Taj Bradley (IL), and just three startable arms left. The lineup that was supposed to be a strength went 5 HR / 29 RBI / .299 OBP. Only 5 SV (league lead) saved Michael from a 1–9. From contender to free fall in three weeks.
